CPM CONSTRUCTORS

ABOUT CPM

CPM Constructors was founded in 1985 by Eldon Morrison of Yarmouth, Maine.  Since then the company has grown from one employee to more than 180 today, operating primarily in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

CPM is a true general contractor, with experience and expertise in a number of construction areas, including concrete, bridge renovation and replacement, site work, commercial building construction and renovation, street and road renovations and drainage upgrades, heavy construction work and the design/build process.

Standard project sizes range from $1 million to $5 million dollars, though CPM has managed several projects in the $7-$12 million dollar range in the last 3 years.

CPM has completed over sixty-five bridge and bridge rehabilitation projects for Maine DOT, New Hampshire DOT, Vermont AOT, the Maine Turnpike Authority, Guilford Rail and several municipalities.  The Company’s focus has always been on technical projects that involve in-house engineering capabilities.  CPM has over the years consistently provided in-house design of cofferdams, retaining walls, shoring, and complex rigging and detours, for example.  The presence of multiple engineers on staff allows CPM to pursue value-engineering opportunities and seek projects that allow for innovative approaches to construction.

Management has been able to handle this diversity and provide the infrastructure needed to successfully complete this work, including management oversight, equipment and subcontracting practices.   The company owns a wide range of equipment and employs people currently throughout Maine and New Hampshire.

CPM maintains a central office and equipment yard in Freeport, Maine.  Most employees work onsite at projects around Northern New England.  The company is equipped to mobilize equipment and materials to these areas from Freeport, and has had great success in working in eastern and northern Maine.  Equipment includes a several cranes, both hydraulic and friction, lag and rubber-tired, six boom trucks, excavators, loaders, backhoes, rollers, dozers, tractor trucks, dump trucks and associated concrete machinery, form systems and steel pile.

CPM has received recognition for its work, most recently receiving the Build America Merit Award for its work renovating the Route 302 Bridge over the Connecticut River between Woodsville, NH and Newbury, VT.  Additionally, CPM received the Build Maine Award in 2000 for the restoration of the Porter/Parsonsfield Covered Bridge, and a Concrete Construction Award from the New England chapter of the American Concrete Association for its work on the historic Duck Trap River Bridge on Route One in Lincolnville, Maine.

And others have recognized CPM for its safety efforts.  The Portland chapter of the American Red Cross presented CPM with the American Heroes Award for Workplace Safety in 2002.  The award was related to efforts by CPM in creating an Employee Safety Committee, a Safety Bingo game to promote and communicate safe work habits, revamped injury management processes and proactive training and evaluations of employee for their safety efforts.
